A Photograph I like..

This is my favorite photographs of all I have ever taken. It was took by me while me and my dogs went for a walk. I think that this photographs shows a beautiful scene where we can see my dogs taking a breath while they rest to continue with the walk.

I am going to tell you a little more about my dogs. They are Tobby and Maite. Tobby is a male dog that has ten years and is while. And Maite is a female dog that has six years and is brown.

It was taken one year ago. I like it so much because I took it very spontaneously then I think I was able the capture the precise moment especially because my dogs a second earlier were running around. Also I must clarify that I almost never take pictures so that is one more reason for me to like it so much.

Webquest 1

A) About Cows:

1. What are the  5 most common pathologies of cows? Mention them and give a little description too.

  • Foot and Mouth Disease: it is a highly contagious disease in livestock that causes lesions similar to blisters on the tongue, nose, mouth and toes of the animals. The disease does not normally kill the livestock but creates painful ulcers after the blisters burst, and can cause high fevers, weakened legs, and even the loss of the ability to walk.
  • Brucellosis and tuberculosis: these are two highly contagious diseases carried by cattle. Similar in nature, these diseases are spread by infected material during calving. The diseases threaten humans, because the unpasteurized milk of infected cattle can spread the disease.
  • Anaemia: this in animals is often caused by bush ticks that attach themselves to the livestock. Normally found in the ears, around the tail, and on the underside of the animal, bush ticks transfer, especially to cattle, a disease known as theileriosis. The disease creates symptoms similar to anaemia in humans: lethargy, loss of appetite, inability to exercise. Cattle with anaemia may have pale/yellow colored gums and abort babies if pregnant.
  • Bracken poisoning: it most commonly occurs in the fall when grass does not grow. Bracken is a plant that contains toxins poisonous to animals who graze. Bracken is considered cancerous and is almost always fatal to infected livestock. When an animal eats a large amount of bracken, disease forms because of depressed bone marrow and lack of production of white blood cells. Death can occur as soon as five days after the first sign of symptoms.
  • Dehydration and heat stress: these are common issues livestock face during the hot summer months. This diseases can to cause Sunken eyes, yellow dark urine and fever. Treating dehydration requires rehydration of the animal with plenty of water and electrolytes.

2. Publish a picture of the cow's digestive system (with names)

3. Publish a picture of the cow's external anatomy  (with names)

B) Choose one of these farm animals:  pig, horse or rabbit.

1. Choose a good website that refers to your animal. Explain why you like the website. (50 words)

http://www.livescience.com/28162-rabbits.html

I choose the website livescience because it is a science magazine website. This online magazine is very important to global level. When I went to school my biology teacher sometimes say that "livescience" its a very good website to search information. So when I search information about rabbit and I found this page I think that get information will be sure. Then I get in to the page and I found many fact about rabbits like: size, offspring, diet, habitat, habits, taxonomy classification, species and conservation status.

2. Find a good picture showing (with names) the animal's external anatomy.

Timeline of Human Development

1. About 800,000 years ago, fire was controlled by early humans.
2. About four million years ago most early human species became bipedal.

3. The Homo Habilis used to live in Eastern and Southern Africa.

4. About 12,000 years ago, humans managed to control the growth and breeding of some plants and animals.
5. The Sahelanthropus tchadensis is the earliest human species from the timeline.

Answer these questions:

1. What's been the role of climate change in the development of humans?

The climate change was very important en the development of humans because thanks to that change the humans had to adapt so that they could live. Then that was the beginning of brain development, bipedal development and emergence of different kind of instruments.

2. In your opinion, what is the most significant milestone for the human evolution? Why?
I think that the most important milestone for the human evolution is when they becoming bipedal because this afford that the species walked upright on two legs. So this was the beginning of a big evolution in the next years.

3. Which early human species was thought to be the first to use tools made from stone?

The Homo Habilis was thought to represent the first stone toolmaker.

4. Who were the first human species to travel to and live in Europe? When?

The firs human species to venture into the cold latitudes of Europe was Homo Heidelbergensis. This happened about 700.000 to 200.000 years ago.

5. Which species survived for the longest time? For how long?

The Homo Erectus was the species that survived for the longest time on our family tree, surviving more than nine times as long as our own species. Then it means that he survive between about 1,89 million and 143.000 years ago.
